Today I’m paying a visit to the farm shop of “Bio aus dem Tal” at the Hirschleitenhof Farm. The road from the centre of Kleinarl opposite the primary school leads up to the picturesque farm. At the top I am amazed at the really cool view over the small village. It’s nice to see the village from a different perspective.
In the farm shop I find not only the high-quality products of the 3 BIOneers, but also a small assortment of regional products from other organic farmers in the region.
Now more about the 3 BIOneers. As founders of “Bio aus dem Tal”, the farmers of the Schwabhof, Stockham and Hirschleiten farms joined forces in 2017. Under the motto “The best from the valley for the valley”, they produce food of the highest quality. If you visit the farm shop, you can even catch a glimpse through the glass directly into the adjoining show dairy. It’s quite exciting to see how the whole thing looks and works!
Even top chef Roland Trettl has already cooked with their organic food. In 2019, at Ski & Culinary Delights on the mountain, Trettl cooked live a dish he had created especially for Wagrain-Kleinarl, which could then be ordered at participating huts throughout the winter season. At the Ski & Culinary Delights gala evening in the same year, he also conjured up super tasty courses for the guests live on the show stage. Balm for the soul. But you don’t have to be a top chef to be enthusiastic about the regional organic specialities from Wagrain-Kleinarl. Natural and genuine, the products from the farm shop invite you to enjoy them.
The farm shop is open every Friday from 2.00 to 4.00 pm.
Phew, that was close, almost didn’t make it. But the organic farmers have also made provisions for the other days of the week, because in front of the farm there is a large refrigerator with an honesty box where everyone can find their favourite products even outside opening hours. Which products are these anyway? I can choose between various types of cheese, such as Biobert, Kräuterlinge, Schnittiger Kleinarler, and so on. You can find all the products here. I can promise you one thing – the food is really delicious!
By the way, the organic food from the valley is also sold every first Thursday of the month, from May to October, at market day under the lime tree in Wagrain! The market is always open from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and also offers other great products.
You can also find cheese & co in the refrigerated shelves of the usual supermarkets and organic food shops, and not only in Wagrain-Kleinarl, but also in the surrounding villages up to St. Martin and Altenmarkt.
My favourite product is Biobert. It goes down like butter and tastes simply fantastic. Try it for yourself and tell us what you like best!
