Looking forward to the ski season this winter in Zauchensee

The second lockdown is a challenge for us all. We’re looking forward all the same: painstakingly we have made all preparations required so that we can start the new ski season with you after lockdown.

At the moment, and subject to COVID-19 developments, we’re planning on starting the winter season in Zauchensee mid-December. When that’ll be exactly is dependent on the snow conditions as well as on Austrian government regulations. At zauchensee.at you’ll find up-to-date information.

Experience 12 peaks, 5 valleys and 210 km of pistes in just one day

A big surprise awaits skiers in this new season in any case: as of this winter you can ski from  Zauchensee to Alpendorf and back for the first time. Thanks to the new Panorama Link cable car the ski areas of Zauchensee, Flachauwinkl and Kleinarl are directly connected with the Snow Space Salzburg area of Flachau, Wagrain and St. Johann/Alpendorf. Thus you can experience 12 peaks, 5 valleys, 210 km of pistes and a number of freestyle parks plus freeride spots on skis and snowboards.

The Panorama Link Cable Car runs between Mooskopf and Griessenkareck. Its name is indicative: the spacious cable cars are equipped with large windows, which offer an impressive view of the Hohe and Niedere Tauern ranges. In the future at the Griessenkareck mountain station you’ll have the choice of skiing on to Wagrain or via a new ski run directly to Flachau.

12 Peaks Trophy: can you conquer all twelve peaks in one day?

The Panorama Link Cable Car enables you, with just one ski pass, to ski continuously on twelve peaks from Zauchensee to Alpendorf on skis or snowboards. If you register with your ski pass on skiline.cc, you can take part in the “12 Peaks Trophy“ and win a prize. If you manage to ski all twelve peaks on one day, you win the “Black Trophy”. If you conquer them on two consecutive days you secure the “Red Trophy“, if you require three of more days you can record the “Blue Trophy“.

Corona preventative measures in Zauchensee

Skiing and snowboarding are extensive outdoors sports, which are proven to be beneficial to our health: exercise in the fresh mountain air is good for your body and soul and strengthens the immune system. Most of the time you don’t meet up with large numbers of people. For areas, where this is not possible, such as at the lift stations, we’ve put together corona prevention measures to ensure you a great and above all safe winter sports experience. You’ll find all constantly updated measures here: zauchensee.at/corona.

Here are our most important safety measures:

  • Contactless ticketing. The internet makes it possible: via our Online Ticket Shop you can purchase day tickets, multi-day tickets, season passes plus vouchers from home. Your ski pass can be sent to you by post or when purchasing you can select to pick up by QR-Code from the machine (or at one of the cash desks) in resort. Those who still have a keycard at home from a previous season can reactivate it using the 16-digit number on the reverse side in the online Ticket Shop

  • Face masks in lift areas. Ski lifts count as public transport, therefore in entering and exiting areas plus on chairlifts and in the cable cars, wearing face masks (or bandanas, functional scarves, Buffs etc.) is mandatory. All cabins, chairs are regularly disinfected by our staff. Even when you are queuing outdoors, keep your distance: at least 1 metre from persons who are non-family members. We kindly ask you to play fair and not use distancing to jump the queue – our lifts in Zauchensee are fast enough to save you long queues.
  • Restaurants and après ski. Before lockdown we drew up a concept according to Austrian government guidelines in order to ensure plenty of space in ski huts for your refreshment stop. Wider tables, electric heaters and coverings for terraces and other measures contribute to everyone finding a space – plus adequate distance from your tables neighbour so you can enjoy kaiserschmarrn (chopped pancake dish), cheese gnoochi & co. We assume that these measures will be valid after lockdown. However, there will be no après ski as we know it this winter.

Extended pre-season sale of season ski passes plus Corona-Bonus

Due to lockdown the pre-season sale of Ski amadé season passes and SuperSkiCards has been extended: take advantage of pre-season sale reduced rates until 21st December. Did you have a season ticket in winter 2019/20? Then you receive an additional “Corona-Bonus” when you purchase a new Ski amadé season pass or a SuperSkiCard: as a Ski amadé card holder you receive a one-off bonus of 40 Euro, as a SuperSkiCard holder 45 Euro. You can redeem your Corona-Bonus in the  Online Ticket Shop as well as one of the pre-season sale sites. You’ll find all information regarding ski passes, conditions and offers here: zauchensee.at/preise/winter

Refund guarantee for season ski passes

If you purchase a season ski pass for the Ski amadé or a SuperSkiCard, you will be reimbursed for all days, which cannot be skied due to corona. 15 days skiing are calculated during the season: if, due to corona less than 15 days skiing were possible, your ski pass will be refunded at the end of the season minus the number of used ski days.

We wish you all the best, stay safe! We look forward to seeing you soon in Zauchensee!

After studying in Salzburg, I moved back to my beautiful hometown “Altenmarkt”. In addition to the wonderful mountain scenery and the many opportunities - both in summer and in winter - I appreciate as an enthusiastic musician and member of the traditional brass band Altenmarkt above all the community, culture and customs in our region.
